Vital wheat gluten has become an essential value-add ingredient in a variety of food, pet food and aquaculture products – and no one in North America makes more of it than White Energy.
White Energy manufactures quality, high protein gluten each year at its state-of-the-art facility in Russell, Kansas. This single facility accounts for more than half of the nation’s entire gluten production, but only meets a small fraction of the U.S. demand.
White Energy sells gluten under the Heartland brand name and has long-term sales agreements with many of the most iconic names in the food and beverage industry. Those customers appreciate the quality, safety and consistency of gluten products made in America by White Energy.
The United States is the world’s largest consumer of wheat gluten and White Energy is a key strategic supplier. As the market for baked goods and pet foods grows — as well as the rapidly emerging market for organic products – the demand for gluten will continue to rise. To meet this increased demand, White Energy plans to continue to invest in this key business.
WHERE WE MAKE GLUTEN
How We Make Gluten
White Energy uses proprietary technology to safely and efficiently produce gluten that reliably delivers high protein levels and low moisture content. Once the gluten is formed, starches are removed, separated and sent to the adjacent ethanol plant. The remaining gluten is dried, then ground into a dry, flour-like powder.
